The SUNCSA, Pak Alliance Pakistan was launched on December 24, 2014 through an extensive consultative process considering SUN Movement Guidelines and sentiments of civil society organizations. Successful establishment of the SUN-CSA was a process which spanned throughout 2014 beginning with membership in response to the advertisements, 79 member organizations were confirmed and included from all federating units of Pakistan. As of June 2017, the number of members have increased to 143.
In line with SUN framework, the CSOs Alliance aims to monitor the overall situation of nutrition in Pakistan and advocate for policy and legislative reforms as well as adequate budgetary allocations to address malnutrition in the country.

Strategic Objectives 2016-2020

  • To advocate and campaign for nutrition sensitive budgeting at provincial and district levels by 2020.
  • To generate visible political support and commitments from all major political parties at district, provincial and national level by 2020.
  • To develop SUN CSA-Pak as an advocate, influencer and whistle blower for the implementation of national and provincial nutrition related commitments and progress, by 2020.
  • To strengthen SUN CSA – Pak by increasing inclusive, multi-sectoral and equitable membership from across Pakistan, for nutrition inclusive policies and programs at local, provincial and national level by 2020.
  • To build technical capacities of member organizations for contextualizing nutrition specific advocacy and awareness raising activities by 2020.

Membership

Civil Society Alliance for Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN-CSA, PAK) is alliance of like minded civil society organizations, individuals and networks dedicated to Scaling up Nutrition in Pakistan.

Membership in the Alliance is based on an alignment with the goals of the Pakistan and Global SUN Movement. The membership to the SUN-CSA, Pak is open to registered local, national and international civil society organizations, community-based organisations and other non-profit organizations (such as research institutions and professional associations), farmer’s/ labour organisations, disaster management organisations, women’s organisations, youth organizations/ forums, CSO coalitions working on child rights, human rights operating in Pakistan.

Eligibility Criteria

Not for profit organizations involved in research, monitoring, advocacy, and program delivery of nutrition sensitive or specific activities in health, agriculture, food, education, WASH, social protection, population planning, gender, governance, women and child rights etc. are eligible to become members of SUNCSA Pakistan.

Minimum criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years of registration as non-profit organization
  • Functional financial management system
